Stats, info, and ramblings...

Here are some stats and info for ya'll:
Josiah Adam Berge is 6 pounds 12 oz.
He is 20 1/2 inches long.
10 fingers.
10 toes.
A slightly disfigured head that they said will round itself out eventually.
Blonde hair with a definate possibility for some curls or waves.

Andrea pushed for about 50 minutes. She did an excellent job. I didn't pass out or even get too woosey. Shocker! A couple time doc told me to look away or that I could sit down if I wanted to but I just hunkered down, dug deep, and made a good solid push to the finish. It helped that we were watching football at the time. The Atlanta Falcons and the Cincinnati Bengals were playing and it was a really good game. The baby was born sometime during the 3rd quater I think.

Andrea actually said that it wasn't too bad. (long live drugs!) She is doing very well now and was extremely hungry during delivery. I think that was good motivation for her. She had me order some smotherella bread with some fete cheese dipping sauce from Jeff and Jim's Pizza; they should be here shortly. I am just so proud of Andrea. Thanks for all your comments, she has been enjoying reading them.

Josiah seems to have a very docile and content personality. He got all cleaned up and is snuggling up with mommy. Poor guy doesn't know what's in store for him once we bring him home to the circus. I think we will have to keep a close eye on Hannah the destroyer as I am confident she doesn't understand the word "gentle". But I suppose that is little Josiah's lot in life; and I suppose it is Hannah's turn to inflict some pain, now that she is the big sister.

I have been thinking a little bit about the gospel metaphor of "Birth"; "you must be born again." Josiah really did nothing to be born, this gift of life that he has is a pure gift, just as our spiritual life is a pure gift from God. Andrea went through 9+ months of discomfort and pain to bring forth this new life. So to our spiritual life was brought forth in the suffering and death of Jesus. I am understanding "born again" in the context of Jesus' suffering in a whole new way. Praise God for Josiah and the miracle of birth, and praise God for what Jesus did to give us spirtual birth and a place in His eternal family.

The nurse just told me that the smotherella bread has arrived so I better go grab a bite before Andrea takes care of things. Thanks again for you cares and prayers! God is good!

Adam

Adam, your writing is not only entertaining, but beautiful. I read this post aloud to my mom over the phone and had to catch myself a couple of times. I had a lump in my throat. Just beautiful!

Congratulations! But I've got to say -- how weird are you guys! You wrote a paragraph about food before writing about Josiah's personality. :) Those of us who are long distance want the baby facts, not Papa John's menu choices! Seriously though, four is fun, I hope you enjoy this time of baby and toddler blessedness it goes so fast. I'm praying for you. Cheri Russum

Congratulations Andrea & Adam and family! Josiah was pretty excited that you've named the baby after him. :) It is very fun to see the updates. Keep them coming!
