On Sunday night we bundled up the whole gang and went in search of our tree. I use the word "search" lightly because we drive up to a lot down the road from us, pick out our tree and pay the man. It's not hard - we like it this way. We DO keep things interesting though because we don't just strap the tree on top of the van. Nope, we bring the kids' WAGON with and bungee the tree to that. We then WALK home with our little Berge troop (van to be picked up later that night). It is a fun and relatively simple tradition that we've started and the kids really enjoy it too.
Luke, for the second year in a row, was the primary tree puller. He was all business and did not want to share his duties. It's amazing what a 3 year old can do when he sets his mind to something.
And yes, it was snowing ever so lightly. Just beautiful!

Luke finally took a break and let Hannah do a little pulling.
We're never too far away from our "Doble" (double in Spanish - dough-blay if you want to know how to say it correctly) Josiah WAS with us - you can see his little legs at the front of the stroller.
By the time we got home, caught a little of the Vikings game and put Josiah to bed, we had no energy to let the kids "help" us decorate. We got them to sleep and then I had a wonderful evening decorating the tree and watching the rest of the game. If you look closely you'll notice that only about 2/3rds of the tree is decorated. Josiah is just OUT OF CONTROL with ornaments and I didn't have the gumption to pick those up all season. I opted to put up only ball ornaments in hopes of protecting my regular ornaments. In case you're wondering where Adam was, he was camped out in the kitchen carving a turkey (cause we hadn't had enough after Thanksgiving) so that he could turn it into soup for a small army.
Ahhh, my house is officially cozy and decorated. Now all I need to do is drag up all those winter dishes...maybe another day. :)

Oh my, could it have been a more perfect evening with that light snow for bringing home the tree? Great pictures and I think the tree looks wonderful.
the picture of Luke pulling the wagon and tree is adorable.
Such a cool tradition!
My personal tradition? Putting up a gate in front of our tree. Kind of like an institution, but its only for a time... :)
Believe me, if we had a gate like that it would be UP!!!
LOVE the tree!! Ours doesn't have stuff on the bottom due to Gadget jumping at things and ripping them down. I'm sure I'll come home one day from work and the lights will be off the tree...Oh well.
Still working on trying to get our tree up (artificial), so you are totally on the ball in my book!
What a fun and beautiful tradition! I love your decorated tree! Good luck with keeping your tree safe! We are still trying to figure out what we are gonna do!! I love your fun tradition!!
Our tree is up too, but I am leaving ornaments off this year. Lights and beaded garland are going to have to be enough! Less is more...right?
Looks great and yes, very cozy! Sometimes I wish we would give in and get a "real" tree, but alas, we have an artificial one. :o)
