This week we FINALLY got a great picture for our annual Christmas card. We (mostly Adam) are very relieved to have this checked off our list. I'm sure most of you out there can relate. I mean, really, it is nearly impossible to get a decent picture where every face is looking and on top of that, sporting a pleasant look. It is completely NOT an accurate representation of every day life. But we carry on with our tradition - as painful as it may be. :)
Here's our first attempt back in early October. I didn't LOVE it because Josiah's hands were in his mouth and Hannah looks somewhat afraid. I realize that this is a really nice picture (gracias John), but I was looking for "perfect." My poor family...

Attempt #2 was at Cragun's during our Berge weekend. I love the background and the vests, but Timothy's head is a little blurry and none of the little kids have great expressions. Sorry guys, there will be more attempts later. At this point we're done including ourselves in the pictures.
This pose was all Adam's idea. Great concept...if you've got older kids who can balance while smiling and looking in the right direction. I think Luke was crying because we had FIRMLY told him to "stand still!" Josiah was upset because we were trying to have Luke and Hannah hold him. He just wanted to run away - surely he wasn't alone. We'll keep trying...
I thought this idea was rather cute but nearly impossible to keep their little faces and bodies still. The outside kids kept rolling and Josiah kept trying to sit up, plus he looks really washed out. I probably should take some photography lessons but I just don't want to put more complicated info into my brain. On with the pictures...
After more attempts the other night we let the kids do some silly poses (morale purposes.) Maybe we'll just go with this one. What do you think???
Yes, Josiah is sucking a pink passy - couldn't find the boy colored ones and thank goodness I still had some left from Hannah. :)

Good luck to all of you who still have this little project on your Christmas "to-do" list. Keep smiling!!

hahahaha! I can't wait to see what you finally decided to use!
Oh, my sons have horrible memories of what I put them through - the worst being the day I posed them and took a whole roll of pictures (trying to get one good one) and then realized I had NO film in the camera!! Yes, I put the film in and MADE THEM DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN. I don't think they liked me very much that day.....
that's great! such a stresser over the holidays i agree. if i get the majority smiling, i call it good. can't wait to see those cute faces!
Can't wait to see your Christmas card! :-) Glad that it's one less thing to check off!!
:o) I loved this post! I suppose that this will be our story too as we keep adding to our family.
Kids being kids - and yours are SO cute! Good luck with the photo card!
